05 Summit X 1000 Weight reduction-Know what to remove just not how Help!

Hello,

I've recently purchaced an 05 Summit X 1000 bone stock except lightweight can with 1500km. I've done a few things such as removing rear taillight perch, windshield, removing underhood foam ,plastic clutch cover and knockouts

I've read over and over about removing and bypassing the rear cooler for weight reduction and making the sled run better but I can't find any pics and/or detailed instructions on how to actually do this properly. I've done all the searching on dootalk and here and can't seem to find any specific instructions.
Can any one help me out on this one?

Also running an 08 XP800 thermostat is another popular mod except again no details/instructions on how to do it.

And I've also read many times about filtering the air with pods because of "belt dust" But I can't understand why the stock setup is not Ok considering it's completely sealed and separate from the engine compartment and draws air from outside thru the hood?

Finally can any one tell me how to properly adjust the chain case tension on this model!

Thank-you for your input and suggestions!!
Any other must do's suggestions greatly appreciated.

maybe the stock air intake works if you totally seal it with some sealant, because the stock box has small gaps all over. My friend did that to 600 SDI and it stopped to blow engines every 1000kms.

You must put some filters on it! It sucks in that kevlar belt dust and it gets into the crank bearings = verrry bad.

If you do a search on here or Dootalk.com you will find detailed instructions on both the Tstat and rear cooler delete, and usually with part #'s.

I've done them all and the filters & Tstat are a must for the summit, the other stuff is for weight savings more than anything.

You should also consider gearing down one tooth and running a 15 wide chain. The 13 wide cant handle the power and when it goes it takes the case with it.

Ya, lots of reading on here and on Dootalk regarding the RT. I'm too lazy to re-type it all,,, "Searching" your topics should give you pletty of hours of reading. See "Rev mountain" and "Mach Z" for info on Dootalk sub forums.

PS, If the sled has a few seasons on it ,check the primary clutch rollers and stop washers,, the fiber was starting to break away from the inside of the rollers, and the washers and rollers were quite tight in the arms (it was tough to spin/turn the rollers),,, new ones are on order. I may have been the brake cleaner I used in there the last few years, as it may have attacked the fiber material,,, or just age. Interestly, Doo has an updated roller for my clutch,,?,, Good news it started and ran first pull this fall, but I did prime one cylinder with a shot of gas as I store it dry of fuel over the summers.
