05 Rings, When was the upgrade done?

Flaking rings on 05 800 HO. Does anyone know the serial #'s in 05 when they upgraded the rings. I have an 05 with 1000 miles on it and don't know if it had the newer rings or not. I bought it used with 119 miles on it, so I know the engine has never been apart.

faulty rings 03-05

Don't know the serial #, but the 06 rings were the fix. I lost them on my old 03 summit as well as my 05. Had another 05 rev and it had been updated(i bought it new) and never had a problem with it. It ran strong but it was a 144 track so I sold it. Put 06 rings and pistons in yours and you should be good to go!

Yep, I was just hoping mine had the new rings in it. Thinking it was a mid production change in the rings. I just didn't feel like tearing it down. Maybe this summer I'll give it a ring job just to be sure. Still runs great, and starts easy, idles well, just don't want a ring to come apart and destroy my engine.

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe all the 05 HO's had Moly rings. Either way, I would put new pistons in as well JMHO.

I would just keep an eye on your compression and as soon as it start to drop change them.

I wouldn't wait too long! I broke the skirt off the piston on my 05.

How do ya like your wiseco 2 ring pistons. I'm gonna put new pistons in mine this summer, is that a good way to go?
