05 rev highfax wear

My brother has an 05 rev 151. This is his 4th set of highfaxes that he's gone through in less than 1000 miles. Any tips to look for? He has the cable kind of ice scratchers and uses them. Thanks for all replys.

TRACK TOO TIGHT!! I have the same sled and am just changing out my FIRST set of hyfaxes and have 2900 miles on mine. Been on there since bought at dealer.

I could probably get another few hundred miles out of them if wanted.

If I pick up the back end of my sled I probably have 2-2.5 inches of gap between track and hyfax in the middle at the biggest part.

05's were stock with extro's so you can run looser. GET RID of those cable style ice scratchers......they are worthless on real ice. No good downward pressure to really scratch the ice. The good ol' spring tension style are the way to go still.

And as mentioned check clips. It is wearing on the bottom and not on the sides I am guessing?

Loosen the track and when you install the next set, drill a 1/2" hole about 1/4"-3/8" deep in the middle of the slider every 3"s or so. The holes will fill up with ice and provide lubrication.

How many wheels is he running? And does that hole drilling really help? I could see it possibly helping when the temp is cold. I have over 6000 miles on a stock set of 144 hifax and they still haven't broke through. I think its because the track wasn't fully clipped, because I rode dirt in the Spring if I had to and never installed a set of scratchers.

I have found that a fully clipped track has LESS friction than a rubber wiper against the hi-fax. 2.5" drop of the track is about right.

Get off the trail more often into powder, limit distances on hard pack(roads), check each track clip and last,if all else fails, put the wheels back on!
