05 Rev 800HO high idle

I have an 05 Rev 800 HO that runs great and idles good but when the sled warms up and I have been riding it for awhile...I will come to a stop and the idle stays up at 3300 rpm for a little bit unless I blip the throttle once to bring it down.

Any one have any ideas as to why this is happening??? It isn't a big problem but it is a little annoying and I would like to get it figured out if I can.

Thanks

Try cleaning up the belt dust off the throttle linkage and from inside your carb. I'm having similar problems right now too. I popped the top off the carbs and found some belt dust on top of the carb slides. I cleaned that out and cleaned the linkage real good. Also retouted the throttle cable the most direct route I could find. It seems to be better now while in the shop. Im going riding tomorrow, so I'll know if its fixed or not. Let me know what you find out with yours.

There isn't any belt dust on or around them anywhere. I just cleaned all that out this summer and it has stayed real clean so far.
I know I have #15 pilot jets in there so I might try the #20's and see if that will help.

Thanks

i thought that i was the only one having this symptom aint a big deal but i turned my idle down to about 1700 maybe a bit more then i stop for a split second it goes into rer turned it back up high again its fine?

I have an 04 and mine was doing the same thing started about the end of last season. I tried cleaning the carbs, cables, replaced the carb boots etc. nothing fixed the problem. 2 weeks ago I lost a rod bearing (3600mi ) when I was pulling the mag off of the crank I noticed it had been leaking grease out around the seal. Don't know if this was the cause or not. I should have my short block this weekend and when I get it all back together and ride I will find out. Also if anyone has 3000+ miles on their sleds the sealed mag bearings should be regreased or replaced, the grease in my bearings was black and hard.

Talked to the mechanic at the Skidoo shop today and he told me that they will do that from time to time and he recommended to try and turn out the fuel screws to 1 3/4 turns, give or take a 1/4 turn. I cleaned my carbs this summer when I had the engine apart and I think I only had the fuel screws 1.5 turns out from bottom.

So...it is worth a try to maybe back them out a little bit more and see if that works. It isn't a big problem for me but it is just a little bit annoying to have that happen.

You guys can try that if you get the chance and I might do that after tomorrows ride, want to see if it keeps doing it or if it might have been just the air temp that day.

just a thought a high idle can be caused by an air leak have your reed boots ever been replaced ? There known to crack and suck air. Spray some starting fluid around the carbs are crank seal while running to make shure you dont have a air leak, 20 pilots do help as well as setting the idle. This is kind of a side effect of these carbs, thunder products the same company that makes UFO's sells a product to help this also.

#20 pilots jets will take care of it!!!!!

Put 20's in mine and my wifes, the idle will come down on its own after warm up. Next set the idle screw to the RPM you like. I like about 2500 so it doesn't vibrate so much. You will be good to go. Also bring your jets down to 390's. I'm at 1000' elevation and plugs are fine. If you are 5000+ you can run 380's. It will RIP!!!!

I dropped my needles to the middle position to lean the midrange out and now it does the 4000rpm idle thing. Choking it will drop the idle to the right rpm. Will try #20 pilots and post results.
