New cables ready soon

Good news, I just received an update from my supplier, I will have cables available in about two weeks from now. Please send me a PM to arrange payment and put your name on the shipping list, this order will be limited so don't wait too long to let me know what you need

Hey guys, gotta go get my cable from the post office tomorrow, was outta town this week so they wouldn't leave the package because it needed a signature ... ANyways....

I pulled the sled into the garage tonight to start taking it apart so I can just kinda work on it this whole week.

I started to go to take the old throttle cable off, but I thought before I did I'd ask for some tips on how to do this as I've heard it can be a PITA.

1.) First, the cable at the throttle-lever .... There is an e-clip holding the cable housing to the throttle housing, which prevents the cable from sliding back out. Do I need to keep this e-ring to be used with the new throttle cable? It appears to be kind of a PITA to get off of there and I dont have one of the special tools for removing an installing them. Do I need to get one of those?

2.) Once I go to take the oiler/throttle cable off at the throttle body, any tips you can give me there? Do you just follow the service manual to make sure that you're getting the correct range of motion with the oil injector pump? Getting the throttle cable adjusted on the throttle bodies I am not worried about but I wanna make damn sure that oil injection pump is working properly

Any advice appreciated, thanks.

- YES you need the "c clip"..i used a scribe to pull it out, and of coarse i managed to lose it, but they are easily found at ACE hardware, lol..and when you install it back in, i used needlenose and pushed as far as it would go in..then used a flat head screwdriver to push it till it clipped on the cable..hey it worked..

there is a GREAT CD that claude sends with the cable, and its very detailed..WITH PICTURES :) and tells you step by step...but no real tips for taking the throttle bodies off, just being cafeful and looking for cracks, reed damage, ect..when i was in there, i went ahead and changed the oil filter..when you install the cable on the oil pump, its pretty cut and dry and yes its a PITA to line up the small lines on the pump lever and pump housing..took me several tries to line it up right..there is a SMALL hole in the cross bar in front of the engine that has a hole dead center to the oil pump, and you look through that and line the marks up..then tighten, then look,, re-tighten..and so on..took me a few tries but simple enough..

i am not sure if it will help or not, but i also covered my throttle bodies with some heat tape..just to see if the heat from the pipe would not crack my boots..??..was just a thought

its really cut and dry, just like you said, its a touchy area, so you want to make sure your slow and everything is perfect..

GOOD LUCK!!

p.s. the CD instructions doesnt tell you..but when you begin..you also have to have a 12pk next to your primary..just incase :beer; ;)

Too bad there aren't a whole bunch of owners that know of this cable setup.

Aaron, keep the two clips you take off the old cable, you will need them to install the new one. The best way to remove the clip at the throttle lever end is with two small flat screw drivers.
PM me if you need clarifications on any of the installation steps.

ps I like Guido's suggestion but keep that for when you are done with the install.
I will edit the CD to add that step AS THE LAST STEP...

frenchy you have a pm. just need to get on the list for a cable and how to handle payment and shipping?
thanks

I was hoping to see them today but it does not look good based on tracking as of this morning. Early next week is starting to look more realistic at this point.

must have....

just installed my cable and it is an absolute MUST HAVE.even if your oil cable is working fine trying to remove the throttle bodies for any reason at all w/o damaging the oil cable is damn near impossible.some thoughts on the install...

1)i did not need to pull the primary to remove the left side sub frame

2)polaris did no favors with that EXTREMELY poor design

3)claude offers a great product and service

lastly...guido is absolutely correct about the small hole to line up the oil pump arm marks!what a pain in the azz!

Got my cable in and on Claude, thank you! Sooooooooooooo much better than the factory f*ckup cable :)

Haven't fired up the sled to make sure it's adjusted right yet but I'm pretty sure it is, throttle stop switch isn't being activated, throttle body is 'slide-to-slide' so to speak, and as best as I can tell the oil pump marks are lined up right.

Should be on the snow with her tomorrow :)

Clay, I just sent you a pm back. I see the cables are in the city as of today's tracking, I hope I get them tomorrow before they break for Christmas??
