04' Ski Doo 800 Rev vs. 03' F7 with 144" track

I found a good deal on an 04' Ski doo revo 800 with the 151" track and an 03' Arctic Cat F7 with a 144" track. I do a little trail riding, but more powder and a little bit of climbing. Which one is better? I know the F7 will be lighter...but how much do the 04' rev's weigh?

Does the REV have the HO motor? Anyone know how much power the 04 800's make? I am thinking the F7 will probably be a little faster but the REV a better powder machine with the longer and wider track?

I don't have any exerience with the Firecats. I've only seen two in the mountains over the past 6 year. But I was very impressed on how well they did. If the track has tall paddles, it might be the more capible and funner sled. But I'm only guessing.

If you ride in mostly deep powder or steep powdery hills, the summit will problem be the better choice.

Top speed of the Summit would be around 85MPH with a 151". They are not geared for speed. Plus the skis are closer together to make carving and sidehilling easier. The F7 sounds like its more of a renegade, made to shine in both world.

Also the REV has reverse, I'm not sure the F7 does and reverse is nice to have when loading other things. Sorry I'm not helping you out, just throwing some stuff out there to think about.

i had a 04 rev 800 with the 151 and a mbrp can, everthing else was stock and it ran unbelievable. plus the skidoo had the weight adjuster on the primary so you dont have to change weights all day. i rode with a guy that had the 1000 cutler bb in a f chassis and 151 and yeah his was faster but couldnt come close on the hill. you have to remember the f has a 13.5 wide track that sucks for floatation and the rev has a 16 wide, a lot better. not to bash the cat cause i was a die hard cat guy until i bought my rev, but the rev is a hands down better mountain sled. if you watch any of the extreme team films dave knight climbs just about everything out there on his STOCK 04 rev 800. just my .02 but hope it helps

I have an 04 REV 151 and rode with an F-7 a few years ago. AS I recall the F-7 has a 14" track which made lots of speed on the trail but was not much of a powder sled. No contest in the deep/steep, REV's a better sled.

my dad ran the exact same F7.. there a 13.5" wide track and usually finger style track as well.. the F7 will SMOKE the summit for speed.. but you aint gettnig em to race right?

i had a 05 600 rev 144 and it crushed my dads F7 on the deep days, the poor thing couldnt even get off the trail. come hardpack or spring the F7 was a blast, but dec-march... bring your shovel!

I have an F7 with a 151x2.25 track with a can and powder pros . You have to work your ars off if it's steep and deep. If you like to pick your lines and WFO it is a blast to ride. Excellent jumping and ripps on the trail. Some big pow days, makes for a lot of work and some frustrating moments...cause you know you could have made it with a sled with a wider track ! It takes a lot of work like I stated...but when you mark above some one with a 162 :eek: It's worth it :beer;

Don't know much about the REV...but i'm sure it is a better deep pow sled then the F7..do to track width !!

If you get the F7..make sure you get some kind of frog skin to cover the air intake snorkel. Riding in pow you will get snow packed in the openings and you will get a nasty bogg and it will drive you crazy :)

Thanks for the replies guys. My friend had an F7 with a 151" track and I do like the way it rode and the power and everything, but I did notice it trenches easier than a 151" track should due to the 13.5 wide track.

I've never been on a REV so I have nothing to compare it to....but your answers are about what I was expecting. I am not HUGE into deep powder (but am getting into it a little more) but more so like a balanced machine that can trail ride, have great acceleration, and hold it's on in some powder and a little mountain riding. I am a fairly conservative rider right now so no highmarking the big hill for me!

Also, the F7 has 2 1/4" lugs which might help some? It is also cheaper and has some nice goodies (ohlin shocks, boss seat, risers, simmons, can)....plus I think the REV just sold so it looks like I'll probably get the F7. Anything else I can do to make it a little better?

Thanks!
Tyler
