04 Pro XR 800???

First let me get this out of the way! I'M RETARDED! I didn't do my home work before buying this sled. The price was right so I jumped on it. Now thats out of the way let me get to the point.

So I just purchased an 04 Pro XR 800. I don't know a lot about this sled other than its BADASSness. I know that it needs a couple engine mounts, tie rods, and a more aggressive track but I am looking to do some modifications while repairing these things. I have searched for parts and mods but not really finding anything. Everywhere excludes the pro xr from their parts lists. Can someone tell me what I need to do to optimize performance out of this beast. I'm not looking to spend a bunch of money but I am willing to upgrade certain parts for a fair price. Please feel free to share any tips, tricks, or even just plain old facts about this sled. Thanks again for your help guys.

Shares same parts as a standard PRo-X. Extend the track, lower the front arm mounting point by 7/8" and your suspension will work like it was supposed to and be alot smoother and not trench in the powder. Tracksusa extensions work great, if you want to lighten it up then use an RMK skid.

Ok so I have come up with some info on it. The front skid mount has been dropped 7/8". It is extended to a 136" with tracks usa kit. PERC has been installed. Other than that it appears stock. I try to do most of my riding in the hills. No more than 3000' but this sled will probably see the trails some this winter as well. Any and all info is greatly appreciated. I also have an 00' xcsp440. I have done my homework on that sled and I know that it has beefy suspension. Im sure that the xr is much better built but if there are any parts on the 440 that would be better on the xr please let me know. Thanks guys!

Any thing that you can do to a regular edge rmk you can do to the pro-x as far as motor hop ups and things of that nature. The only big diffirence is that it has a hollow drive shaft like the newer polaris (or is that only on the pro xr2?). As far as suspesion I would try the stocker if you start mtn riding with it I would look into a rmk or holz supension.
