Block heater has gotta to be std equip no? Bud bought a used 04 diesel and he looked and said he couldnt see it...I looked and didnt see one...anyone know if they were std equip or a dealer installed item or where does it hide?? Thanks Its COLD up here!!

We had an 04 TDI Jetta and it did not have a block heater as
standard. I just had one added to a Ford 450 powerstroke and
it cost $200.00, but worth it on those cold mornings.

ours is an 07'.......no block heater nor is there any place to tie onto when your wife is too lazy to put her chains on and tries to summit the inlaws 1mile drive way.

it must be dang cold, ours lights right off at -25f

They do not come with them, install a Frost Heater. It works much better than an oil pan heater. It is a coolant heater. The coolant gets warm enough to heat the oil as well, the entire motor is warm and you basically have INSTANT heat.

BTW.. there is a tow hook that screws into the front grill to pull it with (read your owners manual). There is a permanent hook on the rear.

2004 is a "PD" Pumpe Diesel motor. It has EXTREMELY high injection pressures and you MUST use a VAG 505.01 motor oil. PM me if you want more info on this. Anything higher supersedes 505.01 (506 and 507 both will work fine).

If you go to http://www.tdiclub.com
There is a sale on the Frost Heater in the Vendor section. I think it is $10 off and free shipping.
