first question. fought this all last year and did it the first time out again. when start it for first time of the day, will not run right. unless you let it warm up for at least 15min idling.(literally) go to hit throttle, cleans up and when you let off it trys to die. feather the throttle stays running then only runs one cyclinder. let it sit some more then go down trail, tah dah- everything is fine rest the day. notice temp sensor had broken wire so switched that out but no fix. could it possibly be the thermostat stuck open? saw they about 40-50 bucks but can they be crossed referenced to get one auto parts store?

2nd- put speedwrex pipe and v-force reeds on it and unplugged ethanol plug. seems to run real good. smooth snappy running close to 7900-8000rpm plugs are anywhere from light to golden brown. but wont start unless you crack the throttle little bit. thoughts on that?

8000 is to fast to spin that motor. IMO If you are useing a stock tach and it is saying 7800-8000 then maybe you are ok. The stock tachs are about 200 low. Is that were speedwerx wants you to spin the motor?? It just seams a bit fast to me. If you have a ohms meter and a hair dryer you can test you water temp and you air temp real easy. Just hook up your meter and put the hot air to them. You will see a change INSTANTLY on the air temp!! The water temp will take 3-4 seconds before you see a change in ohms. The ohms go down as the temp goes up. I would guess that you have a issue with one of those. If you water temp fails the sled goes into a full rich mode. check your throttle safety switch for the starting issue.

yeh got the stock tach. got the pipe used so i have to find where they say works best at rpms. the water temp sensor is close to brand new thats why i was leaning to the thermostat being stuck open now. take forever to warm up. only does it when i first unload from trailer. start and stop all day and no problems. have to see if find ohm tester. thanks dan

Something has to be wrong with your sled/electrical. My sled is the most faithful sled I've ever owned. On a cold morning (and yes you have to pull REALLY hard to turn the motor over) it starts on the 3rd pull every time. Sometimes when it's really cold it'll idle very low. When that happens I kill it, start the motor again, and then wait a few seconds and she idles right up.

Something has to be wrong.... probably computer related.

I also agree with Rixter that 7600-7800 should be your target RPMs. The 900 has a TON of torque but is not made to create power at such high RPMs like Skidoos.

this sled for me has been pull the cord and go ever since i had it new. just runs great. and it does the same senario as you just mentioned when starting. the only thing different is it started to take so long for it to warm up. runs like top all day. just seems weird i need to let it idle for so long when i unload it. it only started to do that all last season and end season before. i will have to try to get better look at tach while pulling hill to make sure what its doing. i emailed speedwerx earlier to see what they recomend for their pipe setup. thanks

dont know if i ever noticed air temp sensor. where that one located?

It is mounted on the front of your airbox. Has a blue and and a black wire going to it. with a blue connector. take the tool trayout of the air box with 2 screws and you can see it. It looks like a small resistor. unplug the blue connector, put your ohm meter on those two wires and you can even blow on the air sensor and you should see a change in ohms instantly. ohms go down as temp goes up. or vise versa.

i will take look at air sensor get chance. just looked that up-63 bucks. ouch. fortunate to get that $80 coolant sensor for 20 from sled getting parted out. thanks
