03 Yamaha Viper

Have an 03 yamaha viper 700 triple pipes. It has a 151 in track on it now but was wondering if it would handle a 159. If someone has any input it would be appreacited. What were the gears that you put in it assuming i would have to gear it down.

Thanks
Bryan

It could handle the 159 just fine.

Do the track, and then if you want it geared lower take a tooth off the top.

When I put the 151 on my MM and I took a tooth of the top gear, they are geared a little high stock the way it is.

Gearing

I had a 156" track in my viper, we found 20/42 gearing worked really well. 21/42 worked good too. The 42 tooth bottom sprocket is a little pricy but worth every penny.

I have a 162x15x2.25-3 pitch on mine. 20/42 gears. Runs real well. Stock motor with SLP tripples.

I might have some of those top and bottom gears avail...had a bunch of gears I played with in my MM700 and my MTN Viper. LEt me know and Ill take a peek.

viper question

I have an 05 viper mountain this fall i put a 162 X 2.25 X 16 3 inch pitch. Mine is stock other than bender pipes and i dropped the top gear one tooth. just got back from Wyoming, and it ripped. i was extremely impressed with it coming from a 144 the only mistake i made was going with a maverick track, I am going to put a camo extreme on it then it will be awesome
