03 RX-1 with Bender Turbo elec prob?

It starts fine and idles fine but it won't go. Stutters and flutters, misses like crazy. Feels like I should pull the tether and reset something except it doesn't have a tether. Not overheating. Coolant level is fine. Oil level is fine.

Any ideas?

It acted like this a couple times and I screwed around with it long enough to eventually clear out and go but not any more. It seems to almost go but only when its cold. The warmer it gets the worse it runs. Will not go over 5000 RPM which won't get it to move. If I let it idle for a bit it clears up and seems to run fine but only at a very low RPM (around 1000).

Anything?

I would start by changing the plugs. It shouldn't be the TORS unless you have messed with the handlebars or throttle cable, etc.

Have you done anything prior to the symptoms starting? Handlbar riser etc.

While you are thinking about that, change the plugs. If that doesn't work let us know and we can go from there.

J.

I'll pull them and take a look. I am 80 miles from the nearest source of new plugs so I would like to bypass the TORS. I did a quick TORS search and found several people have had trouble in this area. How does one bypass the TORS on a RX-1? Thanks

There are two wires that run up behind the thermostat housing on the inside of the delta box. One is black, the other is black w/white tracer. You'll know they're the right ones if they run over to the bottom of the throttle stop. Unplug them at the delta box and put the black (male) into the black/white (female) on the engine harness side.

If it runs better when it's cold , it sounds to me like it's getting too much fuel at idle . here are some things to look for : debris in the needle and seat , float level too high, fuel pressure too high at idle, choke stuck shut etc.

Are they an all black and a black with yellow stripe? They are connected to a couple wires coming from a thin black box mounted right under the thermostat. One of those wires has a blue stripe. I hooked the black to the black with yellow and it made no difference.

That's them. Did you hook them together on the side leading to the carbs, or the side leading into the main harness?

Tried the TORS bypass and I think I did it correctly. Today it fired up bypassed and burbled around in a circle at 5000 RPM. It does this for a minute and then if you let off the throttle it won't move. It is a good bit warmer today than it has been when I normally run it but even if it is running rich wouldn't it clear out and go with the turbo or are the RPM's not getting high enough to get boost?

Change plugs to elimate them. Then check fuel delivery:
1. Are you sure you have closed off the OEM vacum pumps completly
2. Fuel pressure 4,5-5 psi at idle - then rising 1:1 with boost
3. Is your relay in place for the eletrical fuel pump
4. Could your main jets be loose
5. Kinked fuel lines
6. Leaking pressure line from plenum chamber to fuel regulator
7. Is the pitot jet inplace?

Do you have leaking T's on the carbs? I would also check up in front where the elc. wires go thru the frame - worn wires that gives you a bad ground.

(Excuse me english skills)

My $ is on the plugs. Let us know what you find out.

Do they have a habit of consuming plugs? To replace them its 80 miles one way for a set or I order them and have 'em UPS'ed.

My experience with plugs is they usually either work or they don't work. You may foul one that will act funny but all four at once? Unlikely.
