03 pro x rails on 01 xc 600 Edge

A guy has a set of rails off his 03 pro x and I have a 01 xc 600 Edge. He says that the rails will fit but I called my local dealership and they said they wont fit.
Does anyone know for sure if the rails will or will not fit? I need to know soon because I'm going on a trip this weekend!

they are different....exactly how/where I do not remember, but even when you buy extensions you have to separate the pro x stuff from the edge sleds or it will not work with the rear axle and block set-up. That is from personal experience due to being sent the wrong extensions. Now, if you were swapping out the entire suspension, you could make that work without too much trouble.....
