02 summit 800 clutch

how reliable are these and what did I do wrong if it froze up at around 2000 miles. Any hints or secrets or preventitive maintence would be appreciated. How much does it usually cost to rebuild primary and secondary. I'm going to do both since we got it apart.

I used to take mine apart every two rides and clean the sheathes, check the buttons and polish the helixes and roller pins. If you check them and clean them often they will last for a long time, dirt and grease are a clutches worst enemy. A small piece of dirt caught in between two pieces of aluminum will groove it very fast. So if you clean and inspect you should be able to get by with replaceing small cheap parts every year. If you neglect these clutches rebuilding will cost you more than replaceing!!!
