02 MC 800 carb with dead tach?

Will a bad tach cause my digatron to go crazy? I looked the harness over and couldn't find any issues; found one fuse which was ok; are there fuses I am missing?

Normally you hook the digatron into the lighting circuit for power. The tach runs off of the lighting coil. Maybe your lighting coil on your stator is bad. Do you have lights and or hand warmers working?

No lights, thanks rixster. Will the lighting coil off of a 900 efi work? Which one is the lighting coil?

The digitron doesn't come on with the engine; when I hit the power button, it comes on, goes through it's little set-up, then it just jumps from function to function giving ridiculous #s. Maybe it's just running off of it's memory battery?

You are going to need a new stator or to get yours rewound. I has mine rewound by stator corp last year for $200. Comes with a 2 year warranty.
You should be able to find a used stator for about $150. Looks like that stator was used in almost everything for a few years there.
copy and paste this into the parts number look up on this link. I will give you a list of all the sleds it was used on. looks like every carb 800 from 01 to 04 and 03 and 04 carb 900s plus the 01 sno pro 440

I have a 900 efi engine that needs a top end. Will the stator off of it work, or is it different because of the efi?

Got it, efi's are different. 1 piece stator; what happened to the old ones where you could replace individual coils?
