02 800 Warning light ?

So I have a 02 800 summit, it has no speedo, flow right in that spot. It has four lights in the dash between the tach and flow rite, one of these is a high temp light. I was wondering if the light was shot or you dont see the light come on and the eng overheats ... does the mpem protect the engine by shuting it down or retarding the engine? Pol. sleds of that year retard the timing as to protect the engine, was wondering if my Doo is the same way? Thanks Dino

As far as I know, there is no ignition interruption when engine is warm(hot) I got a riser and a bag with gps on the bars and can't see the speedo or lights unless I am standing up. Rode one morning when it was really cold and trails were set up hard for some time before I noticed light was on, sled never missed a beat, as soon as I noticed it was on, i jumped off trail and rode in some loose snow/powder until light went off. (I got scratchers now,LOL)

Thanks I was towing a sled out and she got hot , the light never came on, I am going to replace the light and find a temp gage for it. Dino
