850 patriot rpm question

Hi everyone, first post, im french so sorry for my bad english. I have a 2021 axys 850 patriot and i have a question. For the past years sled is very good and never had a problem, last day i went for a 140km ride. Rpm was good at the begin of the day, 8200 and when im at 10-40 kmh and i wot it go to 8200. But the problem is when i ride long distance on lake at 70-80 kmh and then i wot the rpm go to 7800 and then 7500 and 7200~ .. if i stop and wot again it goes to 8100-8200 again. Compression is 125psi each side. Spark plug are new. No engine light. Belt deflection good, spring in primary clutch is new. I did clean the exhaust valve they were very dirty, i remove the cable from the servo motor and took it into the table to clean it. Do i need to relearn the exhaust valves ? Why the problem is not constant. Again sorry for bad english. Thank you guys...

I had the same issue. The forums seem to suggest it’s a safeguard built into the ECM that de-rates the engine when it detects high exhaust gas temps (EGTs). Maybe someone else will chime in. I’m surprised no one else replied to this…

You would be correct from what ive read and experienced. Certain clutch/gearing configurations make it worse, id assume a good flash will correct this but potentially cause issues. The slp pipe/clutching and there inline resister made it phenomenally better. Too the point i barely notice it now unless im trying to make it screw up. Also ethanol mode makes it more pronounced, kinda adds to the theory of it adding a ton of fuel when exhaust temps get high.

I have seen that my sled turn into ethanol. So i put it bacl into 91-non ethanol. Same thing happen. Ive try different clutch p85 and secondary from a new matryx, same thing. I have buy the candoopro. Ive prime fuel pump, pressure is 62.5 psi. I have chek injector ohm. 12ohm both side " in spec ". I have chek coil pack ohm. I have chek injector oring and reed valves. Both good. I have chek tps voltage with the candoopro. Both exhaust temps sensor vary when i put heat on the weld bung. Same thing with coolant temps sensor. I don't know where to look anymore guys. Please help... i have made 2 exhaust valve learn with my candoopro.

So whats the fix ? To have less egts. I run a bikeman can for 4years without problem...

Maybe your sled is detonating? Itll detect mild detonation before letting you know. It can put it into ethanol mode for this reason too. Not sure if your in the us or canada. Pretty well all Canadian fuel has varying amounts if ethanol in it now.

Canadien here yes !

Yea even 91 can have ethanol in it now, maybe try a different station or a 91 specific pump🤷‍♂️
Ive see today that my heat shield on my tune pipe is contacting with my backwood front bumper.. the shield where its pinch was damaged. Im thinking about what if the muffler contacting the front bumper can send small detonation to the ecu and start derate.. i have chek my code with my candoopro and i have a detonation " mag side " code. And the side that my bumper contact with tune pipe is mag side too..... so i have fix that today and fix the loose heat shield. I wish it was the problem.

My wife's 850 started acting similar the other day. I've been through the clutches and found no issues. Basically it'll only get to 7800rpm at full throttle then drops to down and kinda bounces around between 7200 and 7500. It would also stumble or load up on the low end sometimes, but inconsistently.

This was up pretty high, about 9000ft, but normally in this area it's still hitting 8100 with stock 10-68's. Tried a new belt and plugs also but no change.

I'm thinking it's either electrical, or possibly an issue with the exhaust valves. No codes though which seems weird to me.

Could just be coincidence, but this sled also has the Backwoods bumper which has been rubbing on the pipe heat shield right behind where the hood latch piece is mounted.

This is what I did on my 9r last year when I noticed it rubbing, so I just did the same on my wife's sled. Not pretty but better than contact. It's the ultra copper high temp gasket maker, same that I put on exhaust springs.

Same thing for me ! I did take a hammer and lower the shield with small hit. I hope thiss will solve my problem. Ive been chasing this all season ans guess what, ive put that bumper and never think about the fact an aftermarket bumper can maybe give me a headache

Ive did 3 exhaust valve relearn, chek inj ohm resistance, coil pack, reed valves. Try mew matryx clutches, belt, plug, different gas. So hope this will be the fix.

I had that issue on a 17 axys, the pipe rubbed on the skinz bumper bracket and cause all kinds of intermittent bogs/loss of rpm. Not a bad idea to space the pipe up or clearance it.

So i went for a ride today. Working fine for 20min " as always " then start loosing rpm again 🫠🫠🫠 picture is WOT
