Oil delete

Well I just ordered up the oil delete from BDX and it sounds like a bit of a project but I'd rather save $ 250-300 and do it my self! Just curious if anyone in here has done it and if they have any tips or directions to help me complete it?

I will be taking photos and doing a right up when I do mine!

Are you going to cross drill?

i put a lot of thought into it and after a long talk with Jeff at BDX and seeing that they are running there 50 ProLite sleds with warranty and they dont cross drill with there kits id take the risk! I know its a small risk and its def in the back of my head im worried after talking with you but i hope its worth the risk, and i will let you say i told you so if it fails lol

Cross drilling is not necessary. I have over 5,500 mile on my M series with the oil delete (NO CROSS DRILL - Grease zerk in the bottom of the block) and will be running it again this year. I'm going take the T800 Suzuki with 0 bottom end work to 10,000 miles this year! Just give it two pumps of grease every 4-7 rides and you'll be fine.

It's not as bad as it sounds. All I did was remove the bottom aluminum triangular piece and the small plastic piece. I also already had pipe and y pipe out, didn't do much from top but could see in there better. I also am not going to cross drill, just going use grease through bottom

Another question is the grease zerk really necessary? The BDX guys don't seem to think so if you use there kit!

I wouldn't not put a zerk in, just cuz it's so easy to and seems to work for me. So in the future I'll be doing it the same exact way I did before.

What type of grease are you using? Have done by bdx's instructions in the past, but I'm thinking of installing a zerk this time.

So this zerk, where does it go? Is it where the BDX bushing goes? Sorry for the million questions just wanna make sure I do it right

You won't have to say I told you so. I agree 100% with ACMtncat, if you don't cross drill then put the zerk in. It goes in the center of the BDX piece that replaces the oil pump. Get a 45 degree that angles up and then it is easy to get to. Just a couple squirts every 5 or 6 rides and it is just fine.

Oooooh k so just drill a hole in the bushing from BDX and install the zerk, that def makes sense now! That write up helpful but the pics are kinda hard to tell what your looking at for those of us who don't know what we are looking for! But I think I have a pretty good idea on of the concept!!

Also I noticed he used an existing line with a banjo in the case for his grease zerk, does it really matter which place you put it?

Nobody I know puts more grease in after install now, what do you have that makes you think this is needed? Got pics, or some substantial info that shows this is an issue? When I pulled a 1000 that had 500 miles on it since last greasing, there was a little grease left, and a bunch of premix in there... I then agreed with the others who say it's not needed.

(btw, got around 14k on deleted sleds now, buddy has 12k on one sled, and I know a stack of others who don't re-grease either)

btw, NOTHING wrong with adding some more grease... add what you feel comfortable with, but when you add it blows smoke like crazy after, which tells me that the GREASE is coming through the bearings. If the grease makes it through... premix sure can. Won't hurt anything but maybe your plugs by burning a tad more grease though.

I installed the zerk in the bottom where the oil line used to be, not in the block off plate. I've never had smoke happen from grease.

No, No holes to drill in the bdx cover. You install the grease zerk in to the bottom of the case where the factor oil line was mounted. You can mount the zerk two ways. You can get a zerk with the proper threads and just thread it into the hole that you took the bolt out of that holds the factory oil line to the bottom of the case. Or you can use the factory fitting that is on the bottom of the case and run a line off of it with a grease zerk installed on the opposite end, so you can get to zerk easier to and grease.

The stock setup has a dedicated line from the oil pump to the gears, and still has problems seizing up, on new sleds running pre-mix on top of oil injection.
I drilled the cases on mine, put holes in the same place the sno-x engine has them. At the very least I would leave the fitting on the bottom of the engine, and run the hose to a small reservoir, or use a syringe to push some oil in between rides.

thanks everyone for the info, lots of good stuff on this here site! I appreciate everyone input!
