Has anyone ever...

I am need of installing new carbides and snow trackers on my ski and was wondering if anyone has used a second set of snowtrackers on the inside of the ski. I figure since my old ones are in good shape I might as well use them on the inboard side of the ski.

Anyone Anyone.... How does it work??

My 600 came with the old style snow trackers where the "fin" was on the inside. I don't remember who told me, but someone I've spoken with said they had put the old style and new style on together creating what you are thinking of doing. I don't think you can "turn around" the new style for use as an inside "fin".

Anybody have a set of the old style snowtrackers for him?

The leading mounting metal strap of the old style, for lack of a better description, extends at least 6, if not 9-10 inches farther towards the tip of the ski than the new style.

Perhaps someone has pictures they can post.

You wouldn't want to cut it off if you were going to try this. IMO

Regarding turning the new style around, it just looks like the profile is wrong. There made to go in a certian direction.

Look at Rude's first picture. In it you can see a second set of holes in the ski, several inches from where the snowtracker is bolted to the ski. The old style would mount into that second set of holes. Probably put the new style on first and lay the second(old style) right over it.

if i am remembering correctly, when i got my ski from adb the trackers were on the inside of the ski. just switched them from left to right ,right to left.that way they were on the outside of the ski

I don't know what's the purpose of adding another set of fins (the red ones on the photo) on the inside. It can't be a bad thing for sure but the ones I got are the same as photos less the red fins and I think they just work phenomenal on any snow surfaces I rode on. Not talking about asphalt here of course... !!!

The purpose is to get more grip under acceleration.

this is what my old ones looked like. they were not designed to go on the outside as you can see.

Thanks for the pics, Rude. They really show what I was referring too.

Tony, I thought you were concerned about entering or midway through a corner and looking to increase the bite of the ski to the snow. Just me, but I've never felt like the ski was loose under acceleration.

Other people will be much more knowledgeable about this than me, but aren't there other adjustments to control the ski lift and the associated loss of steering if your ski is lifting too much under acceleration.(limitor straps and such) As I say, I don't know how those adjustments function, but that's what I've heard.

Stock ski with new carbides

I've been running to stock ski with the new carbides on the outside of the ski and like them a lot on the trail. (Not as much floatation in the powder compared to the Simmons Gen 2 though.) One thing I have noticed in going down a steep hill in the powder and turning is that it feels like the front of the ski tip is washing out until I get to a certain angle and then it catches. Almost like it needs the winged part of the carbide that hangs over the edge of the ski to extend farther up towards the tip.

Has anyone else felt this or found anything to correct it?

Wondering what would happen if I bolted a small piece of angle iron to hang off the edge of the tip of the ski in front of the carbides.

So here it is, two sets of the new snow tracker on one ski. No cutting needed because both use the same forward hole. Along with this I just did the suspension relocation kit. Cant wait to ride!
