What quality snap ring pliers are you guys using on the Team secondary? I'm done with the cheap Craftsman ones with the replaceable tips. I'd like Matco, Snap On, or Klein's. Please provide model numbers or a link. I think the tips need to be at least 0.115.

Not sure on the model old set of blue points aka snap on. Fixed tips I did the same so I got a good set and never had a problem since then.

Picked up a set at the annual "chinese tool sale" their the solid type best of all a set of four was 10 dollars. You can probably find similar at Harbor Freight.

Try these

Channellock #927, Picked up at Farm-Fleet on sale for $17. C-lock makes one size larger,if your so inclined. Also a 3 piece set. Check C-lock website. The 927 has a niffty switch from inneys to outteys. U.S.A. made also!

^^^ I've tried the Chinese "one-use wonders" before, and was very disgusted by their quality. Now I've got the same Channel Locks that you refer to. At under $20, and over 3 years of use, it's an excellent value. I bought it because it was made in the U.S.A., and it hasn't let me down yet.

x2 on the #927. I got mine at menards. It works great, and is well made. Secondary disassembly is a snap!

I've tried cheap sets before and the tips always flex. I'll try some Channel locks. Thx

I have the blue point heavy duty snap ring pliers set. Internal and external with various tips. I have to shave one down just a smidge to get it to fit tight but man it makes a world of difference compared to the hobby crap that Sears/K-mart sells.

Fought this one for years, finally bought a pair of Snap-On a couple years back and have not had a problem since!!

X2. Run a Polaris shop and we have a pair of SRPC9000A Snap-Ons that every guy in the service department share, so probably done 4-500 clutches in the last 3 years and never had a tip or anything go bad. A little more expensive but worth the money.

Just put the coppered straight tips on your craftsman one and get to it. I've used those plenty of times on the team secondary without any issues...

get the mac set that are reversible, 8 different sizes, well worth the money, in a nice blow molded plastic case

I didn't like the idea of the changable tips so I went with the Snap On 9000's. They have .090 tips for those that are interested and they cost around $27.

SuperDave you still have Jess, Von, and Mark as groupies. I was just using you for your coffin sized tool box. ;)

Keep away from Lisle pliers. They work for a while, then they just don't work.

It only hurts once to buy expensive tools. It can hurt many times if they are cheap..LOL
