lookn at a 97' cummins, anything i need to know?

12v is the best motor built IMO, I own a 98 12v and have owned a 95 12v there great trucks. A 11 fuel plate on my 98 is amazing the power it puts out and its only 300 hp. But my next truck will be a 97 ford with a cummins in it.

bought my '97 cummins from my brother when he decided to go duramax.now he wants it back.the max has an awesome interior,but the dodge has better mileage and torque.this is the second clutch that i've blown the center out of.i have a habit of hole shotting the fast and furious hondas at stop lights.i'm going with the 13 inch clutch upgrade this time.i have 280,000 on it right now.a f e fresh air kit,t s e torque plate,and straight piped(my neighbors love me)this i m o is a great truck,just make sure you get the manual tranny.

Might just be me...but i couldn't afford the 3-5000 dollars a year to keep my 97 on the road...but then i guess i wasss driving it 15 thousand miles a year....ouch...killer dowel pin got me....2500bucks....fifth gear came off....updated nut....came off again...newer updated nut...off again...finally my dealer tacked the new updated nut on....when it came off...well...the aftermarket internals for the tranny cost 2500.....ouch....can't really remember anything not going wrong with that truck....oh...the front diff never gave up...lol...but it all might just have been my bad luck. Three years on my gmc...and i've replaced......a sensor on the transfer case.
 
Why was the motor and turbo replaced at 95k miles would be my first question...

Other than that it's been covered, 53 block, KDP, and 5th gear nut....
 
Hundreds is plural meaning you have at least two of them lol

Show me two compressors that move the right volumn of air for a Cummins that you could compound into anything more than 150 or so and not be so far out of the map that drive pressure would be ridiculous?

you can get out of the map for a short run, those guys are only staying twisted for a few seconds. efficiency is not the name of the game in huge horse power......fuel and luck. keep adding things that burn, cool and oxidize and hope for the best......it's all over in a few seconds anyhow.
 
lol i wanna see an engine that'll keep the head-block....etc together at a couple hundred psi, for any amount of time... lol
