Team CC and Ski-Doo have announced their 2019 Iron Dog Race roster of teams. They have expanded to a total of nine teams this year.
This includes past champion racers Tyler Aklestad, Tyson Johnson, Todd Minnick, Nick Olstad and Scott Faeo. These are some of the most elite racers enduring long hours, high speeds, subzero temps and rugged terrain while being off the grid the entire time.
This year’s race marks 36 years of the Iron Dog race and Team CC has been involved since 1993.
The teams include:
Returning Veteran Teams
Team No. 8: Tyler Aklestad/Tyson Johnson
Team No. 20: Chad Gueco/Scott Faeo
Team No. 14: Bryan Leslie/Casey Boylan
Team # 6: Brad George/Adam Drinkhouse (new rookie partner)
New To The Team
Team No. 16 Todd Minnick/Nick Olstad
Team No. 4 Daniel Thilbault/Ben Miebs
Team No. 31 Bobby Menne/Troy Conlon
Rural Alaskan Teams
Team No. 42 Amos Cruise/Jarvis Miller
Team No. 45 Barney Anselment/Thomas Baugartner
Iron Dog has been titled the “World’s Longest, Toughest Snowmobile Race” consisting of more than 2,000 miles of rugged rural Alaskan terrain including mountain passes, the Bering Sea and the Yukon River, to name a few.
This year’s race also marks the 13th year of the Aklestad/Johnson partnership, currently the longest running partnership in the Iron Dog race. Known as “TNT Racing” (first names Tyler and Tyson), Team No. 8 has raced all 13 years on Ski-Doo with Team CC winning in 2016.
This year three teams are making a switch by joining Team CC and Ski-Doo. Those are Team No. 16 Minnick/Olsad, Team No. 4 Thilbault/Miebs and Team No. 31 Menne/Conlon. The word is they are loving the speed, ride and performance of the Ski-Doo sled and the amazing amount of support. The racers all practice together, break trail and share R&D. Team work is in Team CC’s DNA.
