Utah Snowmobile Show Vintage Display Has A Twist This Year

News

The vintage snowmobile display looked much like those in year’s past at the Utah Snowmobile Show. The sleds on display were immaculately restored and lined up for our viewing pleasure.

However, as we were trying to decide which sled to choose for this year’s Editor’s Choice award, we heard the story behind the 1970 Ski-Doo Olympic 399 that was also on display at this year’s show. That snowmobile ended up winning the Best of Show award, as voted on by show attendees.

Here’s what we learned about the Olympic 399. Steve Arbuckle commissioned Bill Moss to restore a 1970 Ski-Doo Olympic 399 that he and his cousin Dick Hatch had learned to ride on when they were kids.

When Arbuckle arrived at the Utah Snowmobile Show to see the completed project for the first time he brought along his cousin Dick. When Moss unveiled the sled, Arbuckle turned to Hatch and announced he was gifting him the sled.

The sled they had shared as kids once again brought them together.

The winners in the vintage display at this year’s Utah Snowmobile Show are:

Best of Show

1970 Ski-Doo Olympic 399

Dick Hatch, Centerville, UT

Editor’s Choice

1966 Polaris Mustang

Dustin Sweeten, Lindon, UT
