The Snowmobile Expo and Powersports Show is this weekend in West Yellowstone, MT. The expo and races run from Friday, March 9 to Sunday, March 11.
There is a healthy mix of snowmobile and dirt/snow powersports action during the three-day event and, thanks to several major snowstorms over the past couple of weeks, plenty of riding in the mountains around West Yellowstone.
Starting on Friday, March 9, there will be vintage snowmobile oval racing at the race track located off Iris Street. Qualifying begins at 9 a.m. Also, as was the case last year, the Expo vendor area will again be at the race track on Iris Street. Arctic Cat, Polaris and Ski-Doo will be showing off their 2019 models, the first time these sleds will be shown in the West. There will be other vendors at the show as well.
Other racing action on Friday includes 120 and Junior snocross racing. That evening, beginning at 6:30 p.m., Casino Night takes off. You can purchase “funny” money and spend the evening trying to win a variety of snowmobile and travel items. After Casino Night is the Calcutta for the vintage racers. Both the Casino Night and Calcutta take place at the Holiday Inn.
More vintage and 120 and Junior snocross racing takes place on Saturday, along with demo rides from Arctic Cat and Ski-Doo on the 2019 models. To the south of the race track on Saturday will be the Western States Vintage Snowmobile Association’s annual show.
Also showing off will be the UTV Show and Shine. Then, that evening, Swoop Productions will sponsor UTV races at the race track, beginning about 6:30 p.m. There will be two classes of racing, 1000cc and 1000cc Turbo.
On Sunday the AMA Championship Snow Bike Series Round 6 takes place at the race track. Racing begins at 10 a.m.
Of course, the vendor area will be open all three days.
