Skid Plate
Now it was time to install the Ski-Doo Full Body Skid Plate (#860201227). Just by virtue of the size of the skid plate the natural tendency is to think this is going to be a complicated process. Not so.
The installation process consists of attaching 10 rivets and one torx screw. And all of the rivet holes are pre-drilled in the skid plate (and four in the bulk head of the snowmobile … so it’s really hard not to get the skid plate positioned exactly where it belongs.
The hardest part of this process is removing the upper front body module, tuned pipe assembly and muffler assembly from the snowmobile to provide access to installing six metal washers to the inside of the rivets. This is by far the most complicated install just due to the fact that you need access to the inside of the belly pan. But if you’re familiar with removing the upper front body module you should be able to complete this install in about an hour.
