Fort McMurray: Recovery and Resilience In Aftermath Of Fires

Spirit And Energy

Although at times the rebuilding of our trails was overwhelming, the spirit and energy of our members saw us through last season. We were one of the few clubs in Alberta that was able to put on our annual rally, thanks to Mother Nature gifting us with a couple of late snowfalls. We like to think she owed us one, or ten. This year has started out strong. Our membership sales are doing well as riders see the snow accumulating. Our trails are cleared and our grooming is about to begin.

Along with our trails, our city has been rebuilding at an amazing pace. Areas that were once completely decimated are becoming filled with new homes and vehicles. People smile more easily and although you’d think that we’d be exhausted from our experience, I find that the generosity of the people that live here is unchanged. If anything, I find the majority of the population even more caring, more generous.
