Rebuilding

One of our oldest members, Elburn Bean, and his family were instrumental in rebuilding our many lost shelters and wood sheds. They also take care of our Anzac Trail, which saw a lot of damage on it. They and our other trail coordinators removed an incredible amount of damaged trees last season and already again this season.

Although a lot of trees are still standing, the damage they took means that every time it’s windy, more come down, something we expect to be dealing with for years to come. Along with the loss of forest and shelters, the club lost a couple bridges and a lot of our trail signage in some areas. As well, the loss of forest has changed the landscape dramatically in some areas. Where once you could see where to go almost automatically, the new signage we have installed was important to get done quickly to ensure our members have all the visual cues they need to have a safe and enjoyable ride.
