Vintage snowmobile racing, kid’s racing, the 2017 snowmobiles, live concerts, a freestyle show, demo rides and lots of aftermarket products and clothing were all on display today at the 26th annual Snowmobile Expo and Powersports Show in West Yellowstone, MT.
The Expo continues Saturday and Sunday and there are even more activities those two days.
Thanks to early season snow, there is still plenty of snow at the race track and in the City Park, although the roads are a bit bare. The high today was about an unusual 45 degrees F.
At the race track, Mountain West Racing 120 and Junior racing took center stage, followed by vintage oval racing. Then this evening, Clare Dunn and Chris Janson provided the musical entertainment while Octane Addictions snowmobile freestyle show took place between the two concerts.
A lot of the racers participated in multiple classes. There were 122 race entries. The races were cut to three laps towards the end because of time. During the awards, some of the 120 class winners took the microphone and thanked their parents and sponsors.
Arctic Cat, Ski-Doo and Yamaha showed off their new 2017 snowmobile lineups at the Yellowstone Holiday Inn Conference Center.
Saturday’s list of activities includes, of course, the Expo itself, more kids’ races as well as vintage oval racing, the WSVSA Vintage Snowmobile Round-Up, Arctic Cat and Timbersled demo rides, Swoop motorcycle freestyle show, another Octane Addictions snowmobile freestyle show (featuring X-Game riders Willie Elam, Colten Moore and Josh Penner) and two more concerts: Cody Canada and The Departed and Sawyer Brown.
Then, on Sunday, there will be snow bike racing. Snow Bike MX presents Round #3 National Snow Bike Race Series with plenty of knock-down, bar-banging, jaw-dropping, ski-to-ski action featuring really fast guys on really fast bikes.
