Snowmobiles: The Forest Service is moving forward with new rules for snowmobiles on government lands.
In response to a court ruling, the Forest Service announced Tuesday it will designate a system of routes where these winter motorized vehicles can be legally operated.
The Forest Service is looking to establish trails where snowmobiles can be operated in national forests without interfering with hikers, backpackers, fishers, hunters or bird watchers.
The changes go into effect in 30 days.
