The fairgrounds are spruced up, entries are pouring in and Cache County Clerk and Fair Manager Jill Zollinger said everyone is encouraged to attend the Cache County Fair which opens Thursday and continues through Saturday with a rodeo each evening.
On KVNU's Crosstalk program Monday, Zollinger said something new this year will come Saturday at 7 a.m. when a 5K run honoring Raysha Gladfelder Nielsen will start at the Renegade booth at the northeast corner of the fairgrounds. Raysha's Run is a fundraiser and all of the proceeds will go to help local cancer patients.
"Raysha was killed in an accident in the first part of this year. It was in a snowmobile accident," Zollinger explained. "When she was racing she raced for Polaris snowmobiles. When she raced she was racing for a cure.
"She would donate her winnings from racing to cancer funding. She had such a big heart and so much interest in this that we thought we would continue what she had been doing."
Zollinger said, as usual, men will be wearing pink on Friday at the Fair and pink shirts will be sold during the fair to raise money for cancer. She said Intermountain Health Care is partnering with the Fair in sponsoring the run.
