We have already met the Hooper 1108 Big Bore Kit. It made its presence known at last year's Trail Mod Invitational. Mickey Boisvert and Gary Bourquebrought it back this year in a more trail-friendly setup.
"We wanted to show that this really is a trail sled package," said Boisvert. "Lastyear, after the event was done, we took it on a ride through the area withno problems."
The Predator 1108 Big Bore Kit will fit all 800-1000cc Arctic Cats. Itincludes custom-cast Predator cylinders, new pistons, rings, heads and atrio of tuned pipes.
"This setup can be done in stages to take it froma trail sled all the way up to a full-on race motor," added Bourque."This particular one is set up in a mild form. It puts out a littleover 220 horsepower. But John Hooper could take it all the way up to about 250, if that's what a guy wanted."
The Saber Invitational sled had the stock carbs bored out to 39mm, theairbox was gutted and a set of V-Force reeds were added to the intake. Thetrail version uses the stock muffler on the end of the tuners.
"We chose to bring this sled back to show the consumer that thePredator 1108 has plenty of power to get the job done, even with the heavierold ZRT chassis, and the stock suspension," said Boisvert.
Our tech guys measured the compression at a stable 140 pounds, and testedthe fuel as a local blend of reformulated pump gas. With the stock trackand 192 trail studs, the sled weighed in at 606 pounds.
