polaris reflashes pit passes hot seats and 800 shorttrack snowmobile rumors

Amsnow
After being delayed at the EPA office, Polaris announces that its re-flashes are now available at dealers for all 2006 and 2007 4-stroke models.

The re-flash is supposed to rectify cold-starting problems and general operating quality. Some gains in mileage should also be seen. Also, a pressure reference hose update on the FSTs, to the 2008 spec, is recommended by Polaris. Furthermore, there also was a "ghost code" that would pop up on the dash saying to "check engine" when nothing was wrong. This has been rectified as well.

In addition, the "over-boost" capability, which was standard on the new 2008 FST machines, is also coordinated with this service bulletin for the '06 and '07s. The over-boost is about a 20% increase in psi from 14.5 to 17.4 during initial hard throttle applications. The over-boost kicks in below 6,500 rpm, which means that as long as the engine rpm are running at less than 6,500 and you whack the throttle, it will over-boost. If you let off the throttle, and don't drop the rpm below the 6,500 mark, then whack the throttle again, it won't re-over-boost.

This means you can't keep ratcheting up the over-boost, as it has to re-set below 6,500 for it to kick in again. This is done to protect the engine. The boost lasts up to 4 seconds and gives the FST a real charge through the midrange. There is also a re-flash for the ECU of the 2007 600cc CFI engine to 2008 calibrations and an oil pump setting re-adjustment needed.

If you own any of these sleds, take them into your dealer and Polaris will cover the bill.

On the race scene
Polaris also is offering a limited number of pit passes to dealers who are close to WPSA snocross venues. Exact dealers and the number of passes is yet to be determined, but if there is a snocross event in your area, give your dealer a call, or just head on in and you might be able to get your hands on some free passes that will get you up close and personal with the drivers and teams.

Also, lucky winners at each WPSA national snocross event will get to sit in Polaris' "Hot Seats." These individually controlled heated seats are installed on a Polaris Ranger UTV that has been retrofitted with tracks and will sit in the middle of the snocross track for winners to get an up-close view of the action. Finally, check out an opportunity to be on the Avalanche Race Team's pit crew for a day at www.wpsaracing.com or www.avalancheraceteam.com.

Rumors…
That's right, rumors have surrounded the new short-track IQ 800. There's talk the new sled may have some front suspension tweeks, new cooler and new 2009 graphics. Yes, we said 2009. Some say Polaris overproduced its '08 800 RMK and has to dip into the 2009 emissions bucket by calling the late released IQ 800 a 2009 to quell EPA concerns.
