arctic cat partners job skills grant

Amsnow
Northland Community and Technical College's Custom Training Department along with Arctic Cat, signed a $400,000 Minnesota Job Skills Partnership Grant.

Money from the grant will be used to conduct employee training in the "Racetrack to Operational Excellence" program. The goals of the program include assisting Arctic Cat in the achievement of quantified production and continuous improvement goals through experiential learning, company-based projects; develop lean manufacturing-based training and assist Arctic Cat in preparing the company for national competition.

In order to be eligible for the grant, the Custom Training and Continuing Education (CTCE) department at the college began a nine-month process creating a business education partnership with Arctic Cat, and developed a training program. The CTCE team submitted a proposal to the Minnesota Job Skills Partnership and were awarded the grant on the merits of their program and its goals.

The training program began in November 2000.
