Ski-Doo revamped its Formula Deluxe line of the past and launched its new Legend Series sleds. With personal luxury and high mileage in mind, plus an eye on pricepoint, Ski-Doo created the Sport class Legend in 500, 600 and 700cc sizes.
Like their Formula Deluxe forebears, the Legends are essentially MX Zs with plush suspensions and added convenience features. Things like a single push button for the electric start and electronic reverse make operation simple. The DESS security plug is still a standard feature throughout the Legend series.
The Legend Sport incorporates comfort-calibrated Motion Control shocks on its new SC-10 III rear suspension. While other, more expensive Legends utilize newer shock technology, for the price, the sport's setup is quite plush and delivers a comfortable ride in most situations.
Our crew had the midsize 600 for testing. "It handles a lot like a late model MX Z," noted Test Rider Randy Kepner. "I think it would benefit from a pair of the dual runner skis found on the other Legends, but there has to be some sacrifice for a lower priced model.
"The engine performance on this sled is just as good as on the MX Z 600. I'd recommend the sled to someone who wants to just go out and ride all day. Maybe not ride aggressively through the beat up trails, but someone who wants to spend the day outside and watch the world go by."
Ski-Doo is aiming its Legend Sport class models squarely at the other solo cruisers. The 'Doo is also at least 15 factory pounds lighter than its direct competitors, which is beneficial on the long haul. At $7,149, the Legend 600 Sport undercuts Polaris and Arctic Cat comparable units by at least $300. Yamaha comes in $100 cheaper on its Vmax 600 er.
The Legend Sport is available in a solid blue, or in a two-tone black/silver color scheme.
