We received a note from the TransMontana Snowmobile Charity
Ride, held every winter to raise money for several organizations, that the
event is cancelled for this winter.
Here are parts of the letter we received from the event's
organizers.
"Regrettably the committee is not in a position to move
forward with the event for 2013, however, a new and improved TransMontana will
definitely be on the calendar for 2014.
"With a new TransMontana chairman, a new Montana
Snowmobile Association president and new ideas, we thought it would be a good
time to make some changes.
"Over the years, we have helped several different
charities, including Multiple Sclerosis Association of America, Multiple
Sclerosis Society, MT Deaf and Blind
School, National
Snowmobile Foundation, local snowmobile clubs and Special Olympics. There has
been some discussion as to which charity to support in 2014 and future years.
One goal that will remain is to keep the funds raised in Montana
to assist Montana
families that are in need of the help; not send the funds out of state for
administration.
"We will strive to continue with a bus and truck
transport for the comfort and convenience of those who participate and select
that option in 2014. We desire the fun, riding, friendship and camaraderie we
have had over years to continue.
"Since 1991 the Trans-Montana Charity Ride has raised
nearly $500,000.00 for charities in Montana."
