Yes, it has snowed in many places in the West. And yes, we
have heard there are even some snowmobilers who have ventured out to test the
season's first snows. However, most sledders are waiting just a little longer
for the snow to get deeper before they head out to ride.
To fill that time--okay, at least a couple days of
it--hundreds of snowmobilers headed to Expo Idaho Friday for the Idaho Snowmobile Show,
you know to pass the time until they can get on out the snow.
Those attending the snowmobile show, sponsored by SnoWest Magazine, the Idaho State
Snowmobile Show and Allstate Insurance, found plenty of snowmobile-related
gear, aftermarket parts, all the new snowmobile models from Arctic Cat, Polaris
and Ski-Doo and even some used parts and sleds in the swap meet.
We put a little elbow grease into our
latest SnoWest project sled, which started with a 2013 Arctic Cat M
800 Sno Pro LTD 153. Work will continue on the project sled during Saturday
show hours.
There was an entire slate of seminars, all sponsored by Klim,
on Friday, with topics for the day covering avalanche survival (Matt Potratz), choosing
the best goggle for you and what the different lenses give you (Sid Huntsman),
how to choose a wrap and install wraps (John Aguinaga) avalanche safety (Idaho
State Parks), how to ride (Bret Rasmussen) and easy tips to increase clutch performance
and reliability (Dustin Pancheri). There will be a full day of seminars on
Saturday as well.
There were some
great door prizes--and a lot of hourly prize giveaways--on Friday. Of
course, anyone who signs up for a subscription (or renews their current
subscription) at the show is entered in to win any number of great prizes
in SnoWest Magazine's Twelve Days of SnoWest contest. The grand prize
is a new 2013 Ski-Doo Summit.
A whole new set of prizes will be given away again on
Saturday.
Hours on Saturday are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Yes, we know
the hometown favorite Boise State Broncos are playing at home Saturday
afternoon but we'll have the game on the big screen so you won't miss any of
the action.
And don't forget that Arctic Cat will be providing lunch for
200 show attendees Saturday afternoon. Just pick up your free lunch voucher at
the Arctic Cat booth.
