New England Dragway (NED), located in Epping, NH,
will host the National Speed Association's (NSA) Pro Stock 1000 sled events for
the sixth straight season in 2012.
When the NSA series officially kicked off in 2005, one of
the goals for the program was to become a viable form of entertainment. After eight
seasons of proven performance, the NSA series has evolved into one of the premiere
groups to race at NED.
"Pro Stock snowmobile competitors truly reflect the basic
tenets of drag racing," Joe Lombardo, track manager of NED, said. "The
sport (of drag racing) is known as a venue for those with ingenuity and talent
to wring out the last drop of performance from their respective machines. Given
the platform snowmobile competitors have to work with it's truly amazing to see
how far they've come. It's also a kick to watch the expression on a fan's
face when the scoreboard lights up at the end of a spectacular run."
The NSA Pro Stock sled series will compete three times at
New England Dragway in 2012, starting on June 16 during the popular Funny Cars
Under the Stars event. The sleds will also compete at the Jet Cars Under the
Stars event on Aug. 11 and culminate with the Top Fuel Thunder event on Sept.

Lombardo is enthusiastic about the return of the NSA Pro
Stock Sled series this season. So enthusiastic in fact, that he's continuing
with the purse he's created for the series. NED will again be paying $650 to
the NSA event winner and $350 to the runner up at each event in 2012.
"NSA has developed a fan following at our major events,"
said Lombardo. "People enjoy the class and it's become part of our major
event program."
New England Dragway was the first facility to acknowledge
the strength of the "fast sleds" by creating a payout. The NSA series continues
to perform well and thus has strengthened its alliance with this legendary
facility. The NSA group, with its talent and competition, continues to take
major steps forward in Pro Stock asphalt sled racing.
"The NSA series has emerged as one of the most organized
groups to run at New England Dragway," Lombardo added. "Simply put, it's a
pleasure to work with them."
New England Dragway, with its state-of-the-art timing system
and amazing racing surface, will again be the place where Pro Stock 1000
snowmobile records are set.
These awesome Pro Stock sleds make more than 260 hp, rip
down the quarter mile in 8 seconds and travel at speeds of over 155 mph.
