Indianapolis - Hoosiers are one signature away from being allowed to carry loaded guns while operating a snowmobile or off-road vehicle on private property.

The Republican-controlled Indiana House voted 83-6 on Friday to send Senate Bill 154 to Republican Gov. Mitch Daniels.

The Republican-controlled Senate approved the measure, 45-1, in January.

Current law requires guns be unloaded while being transported on a snowmobile or off-road vehicle.

Region representatives voting "no" were state Reps. Charlie Brown, D-Gary; Earl Harris, D-East Chicago; and Mara Candelaria Reardon, D-Munster.
