We were able to pick up our Ski-Doo snowmobiles yesterday (Nov. 11) and decided to put a few miles on them in Island Park, just to break them in a bit.
We parked at Big Springs and rode the roads because a) cross country travel in Targhee National Forest is not legal until after Thanksgiving and b) we wouldn't have dared go off the road because there were a whole lot of rocks, stumps, grass, you name it, showing. Snow was minimal until we gained some elevation on the Black Canyon Trail, where we hit several inches, maybe a foot, of powder before we turned around.
By the time we got back to the truck, we dialed up 29 miles on our Ski-Doo Summit X 800 E-Tec and Summit Freeride.
So the snow was very marginal but hey, it sure beat being in the office.
