Whats the deal with these Performance Chips?

I keep seeing these performance chips on ebay, "up to" 30% better fuel mileage and 50hp! It states that it sends an altered message to the ECU making the fuel/air mixture better than factory and when you remove the chip it goes back to factory settings! Around $25, To good to be true? Would this really work or is it another box with some wires in it?

Just a big joke. It just richens the fuel mixture. Don't fall victim...

I dont really trust these, this is for a ford windstar, and it adds 150 horsepower and 25 mpg, lol

Usually just send a resistor, and up to you to figure out what wire to put it on too!

bought a chip from ebay and put it in my ex 2000 grand am gt. felt like same ****. lesson learned.
