What belt to go with?, or any comments on how any of these belts have worked for you. Sick of the 1080 blowing apart.

You say you are blowig the 080 apart.

What sled is this on?

How many miles?

When were the springs in the clutches last replaced?

Has the primary been removed, cleaned and inspected for smooth operation.

Have you verified that you do not have any broken motor mounts?

What gearing do you have in the chaincase?

If these things are "off" then you could be asking for crank problems.

A "bombproof" belt will only temp mask an underlying problem.

The 122, 115 and 809 will most likely require that the primary clutch be re shimmed.

Al doesnt the Helix you run create a lot of belt heat?

I've switched to running the 1115 exclusively on any sled that I can. They hold up alot better to higher heat and long WOT runs. Width is some different than a 1080 is though.

One thing I have noticed about the 1080 and the reason why I quit buying them was many brand new ones came flawed with part of the cord on the side sticking out too far in some places. so then when you set the deflection it would wear out right a way and the belt would be ruined in no time. Never had that problem with the 1115.

Lets just say clutches are in perfect shape, along with everything else, as they are. I take better care of my sleds then myself, lol Any question of this talk to x2freeride.

I get about 600 miles on a 1080, lots of belt dust, and countinous riding at 70-80 mph generates a lot of heat quicklly.
This is with a team 98 secondary, if I put my old trusted button clutch on problems are solved, but then no more reverse.

2004 prox 800, slp perf package, team 48-34f helix, 140- 240 spring in sec. 140-310 primary spring, 70g dalton wieghts, 25-40 gearing, low elevation 500 to 2500 feet, Western NY. 911 clutch cover, , 90 durometer mounts, torque arm on engine block.

I plan on changing helixs around this year and trying something less agressive. Gear change is out of the question, I can do 250 miles in a day and need my mpg to keep up with the doos and yamahas I ride with.

Guess what I'm after is,, whats everyones takes on the belts listed, sled is in perfect condition as far as maintenance and up keep. Mater a fact, 7000 miles on the stock bottom end. I did rebuild it for the hell of it, was getting scared.

Thanks
Al

I'm thinking thats a big problem Mark, the f helix. But going from the f to any of the .460 non progressive helixs lost about 3 sled lenghts in a race against my buddies. This year I'm going to try the famous 719 helix that everyone raves about on hardcore. I need to cut down on belt heat, even if im looking at tail lights in our few and far between drag races, as you know, I'm all about the handling and corner to corner riding.

When you went from the 80 to the 115, how many rpm did you pick up?

Al,

The F is more condisive to making top speed than the .460 helix is, thats for sure. As long as your fast in the tight and twisty's thats what really matters. Im not sure what your going to think of the 719. It's a good helix for 136-144 off trail deeper snow type riding. Im not really sure however how it is as far as top speed goes because I have personally only ran it as a off trail helix.

With the 1115 I had to redo the shimming on the primary for the belt, and reset the secondary too. I think if I remember right it picked up 200 RPM over the 1080 on the 800 X2 mod and the same on my buddy's 04 Switchback 800 did the same. We will see what it does on this Vertical Edge RMK I just bought.

What ramp are you running the 719 on, 66 or 70?
