19/41...2.1578947..why buy a gear for that? I installed just the 19 in my 08 D-8 163..then next weekend I added the 42..bigger diff from the 19/41 to 19/42 then from 20/41 to 19/41..hope that helps...

I didn't mean to sound stupid I know the gear ratio is nearly the same but I was told that leaving the top gear the same would be easier on the engine and belt life. I was told that to go deeper on the bottom gearwas better at least that is how it was explained to me

I can't see keeping the top gear larger increasing the life of your belts or engine, but one advantage would be that the chain can roll easier around the larger gearset, but not enough to make it worth changing the chain out to accomadate the bigger gears imo.

Just a question about chains. I was wondering if I needed to change chains by going to a 19-41 or a 19-42 or should I change chains when installing new gears anyway.

if you are coming from stock 20/41 you can use the same chain for either 19/41 or 19/42 and as long as the chain is in good shape it should be fine...

mine says 3221124-42t and the cut outs are oval, you think this will work it came in a yellow paper envelope i dont think it is a team gear, but maybe a poo gear think it will work? it has 15 internal teeth

that is a team gear..it just has polaris #..and yes it will fit...
