Does anyone have pics of 162 or 163 length tracks on a short bed truck. I'm looking for a sled deck and wondering how far it's going to hang off and which brand to get. Truck is F350

i built one this year for my mega cab with a 8 foot deck and i have the 162 on it. sticks out a litle bit but can still hook the two place open up but i cant hook the enclosed trailer to it with the sled on top but still can with just the deck on the truck.

With a 7' deck which would fit your truck, you'll have quite a bit of overhang, probably only about 3 - 4 lugs of the track will be on the deck, most manufacturers offer some sort of deck extension for handling the long tracks.

yeah about a 1.5 feet hang off of my 8 foot with about the same hanging over the back of the box so its all about 3 feet over the back of the tailgate for me which im not to terribly worried about because most of the track and rails are supported. just wanted to have a deck so i can get into a lot more smaller areas without having the hassel of turning around a trailer. just wishing i would have built it for two sleds and not just one but who knows i might get the ambition this week yet to build a double and just swap it out. :)

Like earlier posted, 1.5' beyond the tailgate for the deck and another 1.5' for the track to stick out. I only hit my head on it for one season before I bought a longbox.

yeah that does suck when you dont think about it but thats why you got to be short like me and also have a lift kit on it also :) no but all kidding aside it does suck trying to find a parking spot with all the over hang but its worse trying to find another one with a trailer. i do like the idea of the lotus system with the short setup and the track support. it was the first one i built and was going to use it this year and maybe in the coming summer when i take it out i can do some changes to it to make it better.

thats why you just have a logn box truck..

but seriously.. that track support is a slick idea.. would make me a lot more comfortable with the sled on such a short deck.

I had a deck that was only 80" long and I hauled a 144 and a 159 from Wis. to Togwotee with no problems. They did hang off a ways but I just tied them down good and we had no problems. I have since sold that one and I am building a 8' with a 1' beavertail right now. I just will not be able to hook up mt enclosed trailer with this deck. Thanks

Picture of my F350 with a 162", with a beaver tail deck they don't seen to hang off too far. I pulled a trailer for years and would never go back to it, decks are the best, just so much more convenient.
