Put in a different primary spring in my 05 M7 and was told that there are marks on the outer plate and the spider to line it back up on??? Apparently for clutch balancing? I can't seem to find any marks on either. What do they look like and how crucial is this?

the marks are just little bumps, one on the cover, one on the spider, and a mark on the moveable sheave. not lining them up can cause it to go out of balance and worst case senario it could cause a crank failure.

m7 clutch

a cast small tit just below the tower screws on the cover and a similar cast marking on ths spyder.

Keep in mind the M7 clutch's were never correct from the get go requiring shiming for correct function on the M7's. If you have to replace this clutch for sure use the later 08 0r 09 M8 clutch, you will be suprised at the better running conditon.

What do you mean by shimming

You need to spin the spider off (50% chance you will ruin it) then get a shim kit from slp or machine the one that is there to get the proper belt/shive clearance. Usually 10-20 thousands is the magic number for clearance.
