Hitting the brakes knocks off the gauge.

Went ridding today and after 4-5 hours of riding my 07 M1000 started doing something I have never seen before. When I pulled the brake lever the gauge system went dead. Then the engine started not wanting to rev up. After I would let off the brake lever it would start working again. The brake light worked and the headlight got dim, but stayed lit the whole time. It did this little show for a few minutes and then it stopped doing it as I tried to figure it out. Didn't do it again the rest of the ride.
Anybody have this problem, and better yet know a cure for it?
Any help would be appreciated!!!!!

You have a short in your wiring, unplug the taillight harness and check the harness below your bars under the triangle plate. Sometimes these things can be intermittent. Taillight harness issues were a common problem. Plug is just below coolant bottle.
