Found this cool product from Proven Design Products for the clutch vent. Easy to install and works great. $42 plus shipping. Definitely give you peace of mind. Also sanded down the edges slightly for a cleaner look.

I have it installed already, will post some pictures. Great fit and finish and does a great job protecting that vent. Have rode 175 miles with it and no issues.
It doesn't look like it moves the seam for the vent away from the side of the panel, which I think is the design issue?
Agreed, that's why I took a light sanding block to the edges before I reinstalled it.
It really protects the screens.

I just drilled and put black rivets in the stock cover, looks stock and has held up good, there are several rub marks across it.

When I removed the vent, I sanded the leading edges until they were flush with the side panel. Then installed the vent cover. Have ridden four days in the trees and no issues. Branches have rubbed across and left rub marks, but nothing has snagged. Pretty happy with it.
