Any idea what acceptable coolant temps would be for spring and summer riding, how hot is too hot? After browsing the forums here ive seen posts indicating that the timing retard starts at 140deg,is this true? If i am running 170-180 is this a problem? thanks !!

I always like to keep mine around 120-140, 170-180 is definately the ideal temp but shouldn't hurt it

Thermostat opens at 120.

Temps up to 180 won't hurt it, but you will be in to timing retard at that point.

I usually shut mine down around 160 and throw snow on the tunnel coolers.

My digitron has never been working prior to now so i dont know the temps this buggy usually runs at,im concerned now because i have been having trouble with it being in timing retard all the time due to coolant temps.im not sure if it would be possible to run this sand car in 35 degree heat like I was today (riding in moses lake dunes this weekend),and run those low coolant temps.i have a spare T stat with me so i will swap it out tomorrow AM before i ride and see if it makes a difference, thanks for the replies !
