broken needles

I have a 2001 700 and i have broke 2 needles so far this year.I have went throw both carbs on it. it looks good to me what could it be?????

I have a buddy with an 01 800 who went through the same problem. The bottom of the carburetor flat slides had cracked, broke off on the bottom corner. The extra movement and allowed the slide to rock, breaking the needles. I would start with a thorough inspection of the slide to make sure the bottoms are still square.

Worn slides wiggling back and forth with cause the needles to break.

Do you have the green slides or the black slides? It's my understanding that the green slides are extremely problematic and should be upgraded to the black slides.
