Any problems or issues with 07 M8?

I'm thinking about buying an 07 M8. Is there any problems I need to watch out for? My son has the Sno Pro 09 M8 and after riding it I'm crossing over from Pol. to Cat. I found a good deal on the 07 but haven't followed Cat much to see what the problems are. Thanks.

The 07 M8 will get beat by an M7, and the Diamond drive has issues in 07-08.
Oh yea don't forget the 07 will get so hot under the hood it will melt everything.
Sorry, but I would never buy an 07.
I think for 07 the only problem free sleds are the Rmk 600 and summit 600. with the SDI being questionable.

I have got one and love it. It does need some clutch work, but it runs like a raped ape. Make sure it has the 08 update. It was free from the dealer.

you will have to do a lot of work to that 07 to make it half as good as the 09, I think it would be cheaper in the long run to look for a left over 09 or used 09, I had a 08 M8 and liked my 06 M7 better, I have a 1000 miles on my 09 M8 SP 162 and just love it, now my dealer is telling me that the 2010 is going to be so much better than the 09 that I will be trading again:eek:

Sorry for the ramble, Look for a 2009

I have an 07 M8 and I love it. It is not as bad as people say. Change some clutching, put some vents on and ride it. I have never melted anything and I have taken all of the insulation off of the hood and placed heat tape where needed. It wont get beat by m7's because my roommate has an M7 and I beat him constantly.

Great machines! I have an 07 162" I raced an 08 today (both piped)and we are dead even too close to call. I have had no trouble except changing clutching when new. I looked into an 09 and they won't give me anything for mine so I will be adding a few mods and riding it a few more years. mine is piped and canned, cpc secondary, boss seat, riser and thats it.
It runs good.

Have a 07 153" with 800 miles and a 162" with 700 miles. Never a problem with either. The 153" ran a little hot for the first 100 miles no problem since. All they need stock is the ECU update and 73 gram weights in the primary and they work fine. My 162" has the SLP combo, BD box and clutching ands works very well. The 09's are lighter and it sounds like the powderclaw is a winner, but they don't make any more horsepower.

love my 07, with the bdx bumper and fastlane nosno's, is just one AWESOME SLED! you will need a little heat protection, ac has a kit for it. if you ride ANY sled in deep enough pow hard enough unless you have venting you will incur some amount of melting.

I love my 07 M8, went from a 06 M7 and haven't looked back, changed the driven springs and ramps and this thing just flat does it all , going to add some vents to the side panels but otherwise you can't beat it, especially if you can find one priced right. I think they are just getting a bad rap, my buddie has two, was a Yamaha guy before this and he now understands what it is to ride for a day with NO problems.

Hey i had a 07 M8 i loved it till i bought a 09 HCR it is amazing how under powered the 07 was. I had a few mod's on my 07 too and the HCR stock is way more pull and so much liter:D. But not to bash the 07 M8 it was a great sled to me had 2550miles on it and never any major problems. Personally i would go with a 09 lot more money but worth every penny and get the extra warrenty you will have it for along it.:D:beer;

Power Claw

In my opinion the biggest difference in performance in the 07 and 09 M8s is the track. I put a power claw track on my 07 M8 and it feels like it has more power because it is actually hooking up now. Also, I just put a power claw track on my wife's M7 LE and it also is a whole new sled now.

I ride with 3 of them, and 2 of them have had the overheat light go on while going down the trail. I'll bet the attack 20 throwing all of that snow on your exchanger is the reason for your not getting the light.

I would think that the powerclaw would throw a lot of snow as well, but it seems like that heat exchanger is kind of small.

M7rocks is going to try the pan vents. Hopefully that will resolve the minimal problem that he has had with the light going on.

The fear is that it will overheat in hardpacked, warm spring sledding conditions.

Other than the temp light flashing a couple of times M7rocks has had no problems with his M8. It's a great sled.

I have an 07 and it's been awesome. 2200 problem free miles. Never had a heat issue, I've pulled all the insulation and piped it and it has been problem free. Stock clutching was off but a set of new cat weights($60) will fix it. Lot's of good deals on 07's right now too.

if you want to just get a sled and ride it I'd get the 09

if your into modding then I'd pick up a 07 and mod it

I'm keeping my 07, and just adding stuff here and there Its been a good sled
