2007 Struthers 685 IQ/RMK

This 685 motor was built by Jack. It has all the goodies and tuned by Jack to run "a little better" than a standard 685. It has been flawless and super strong.

The sled has 798 miles on it.

SLP single or SLP Twins
HPS Hi-flow Can
Pump gas head and hi-comp head
VF3's
Bored Carbs
geared 19/42
151 x 2.4 series IV track
151 modified Holz Susp
Zero Pro w/ remote res. rear shocks
Fox Float front shocks
Holz spindles
Lots of venting (see pics)
Skid plate
09 handle bars
Hi-flow intake
SLP Powder pros or SLP tri-keel
F-bomb's Better Boards

$7,500 obo

note: the pics show a "vented" headlight delete. I have replaced that with a solid black out cover that attaches to the headlight - thus the headlight is in the sled and the black out can be removed (velcro) easily if the use of the headlight is needed.

Beeler,

Your question is valid and one that I will try to answer as "unbiasedly" as possible. These 685's flat work and run very, very well. I don't think you will find anyone who owns a properly tuned Struther's 685 that is not more than happy.

A couple of good sources for you are FBomb here on the forums as well as calling Carl's. Both will tell you honestly how these motors perform. Typically what they will say is that they run very similar to a well tuned, piped dragon 800.

However, there are other benefits in my mind to the 685: lighter, faster reving (quicker out of the hole), consistent and proven, no issues with pistons and direct injection like so many are experiencing with the D8's, plus it is a sleeper! This particular motor/sled is nothing short of impressive. It ran right with a $15000, VOK tuned to run on race gas, piped 09 M1000 drag racing. Climbing in the steep and deep he had me by a couple sled lengths is all.

thanks for the interest.

Thanks Scott...I think I have a great sled but the economy sucks. I would look at offers - why not you buddy?

Will this sled keep up with the newer 800's Dragons XP's. I heard these rip but dont have the torque

I have one and like he stated it will out run them in a drag race no problem. I have done it side by side outa the hole then it just pulls away from mid range up. BUT pulling steep and deep that take torque they cant pull it. They do respectfully well and are light and nimble.. BUMP for ya.

Himark - thanks for the bump :) I agree with your statement for the most part. Obviously the 685 will have less torque than an 800. HOWEVER, proper set-up makes up A LOT of that difference up. Track length, suspension set-up, clutching and gearing make a huge difference. Of course the more you make your sled a "mt. climbing goat" the less it is a "drag racing gazelle."

Oh, and my sled won't have to be towed home every other ride either...or so I've heard :)

thanks

The head light delete came from Mountain Fit Hoods. It works pretty well, but I know these guys have now came up with a new design.
