Just picked up the above sled for my 9 year old to start learning on. Anyone know what RPM range these motors should run at? It seems to be winding way too high and engaging too high also. It has a yellow/white spring in the primary is there a softer one that will bring it down a bit??

i have a 2002 mtn cat 600 it engages just over 4000 and will pull 8500 with ease but if u are worried you may want to pull your clutch weights and make sure you have the proper weight for your altitude

I pulled the weights and the only markings on them is A-3 on one side and A-7 on the other. All the cat weights I've dealt with set screw and pre-set screw have the wieghts engraved on them? Anyone have any ideas what these are?

I could tell that the spring in the primary(yellow/white) is way stiff. They've also put a 49 degree helix in the rear and a yellow spring. the entire set-up is different than what the lid on the box says was stock.

Not to hijack, but are these decent sleds? I was looking at one for my wife who has no interest in powder, hills or boondocking. She likes to cruise the trails and check out the scenery.

What is a fair price for a low mileage, like new '01 500?

Thanks

I think it's going to be a good sled once it's dialed in. It's got more zip than I expected for a 500. I paid 1,400 for this one. It's pretty clean with 3,000 miles. There was a nice one in the swap meet for several months for about the same $$. Also as far as your wife cruising the trails the suspension on the ZR Chassis rides VERY NICE it's just heavy.

The one I was looking at is an 01 with only 400 miles. Has the Ryde FX shocks and has been stored inside so it is in awesome shape. They want $1500 for it.
